About the Open Mic:
- Everyone is welcome! Audience and performers of all levels: beginner to professional: all are warmly received and encouraged.
- Finger picking nylon string styles (leave the Les Paul at home). Soloists and ensembles of any combination.
- 10 minutes maximum per performer, coordinated by a different guest host each month.
- Tropical juice and coffee provided by the SBGS. Fruit, cake and cookies are welcome: please bring enough to display and share.
The host for our October 2018 Open Mic will be Scott Perry:
Scott Perry is a music composer, performer, and instructor. His works include pieces for orchestra, string quartet, chamber ensembles, choir, film, and theater that have appeared at the Berlin Philharmonic, the San Jose Chamber Orchestra, the de Young Museum, the Burbank International and Las Vegas Film Festivals, and the National Steinbeck Center, as well as many other venues and festivals. Scott performs classical, ethnic, and fusion music. His primary instrument is the classical guitar. He also plays electric and bass guitars, drums and percussion, saxophone, Greek bouzouki, Afghan rubab, and many other instruments. Scott teaches classical, flamenco, jazz, and popular music on guitar, bass, woodwinds, and percussion at his studio, JSP Guitar Sounds, near Cupertino, CA. He holds an M.A. in music composition from San Jose State University in San Jose, CA, and a B.A. in music performance, concentrations in guitar studies and music composition, from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.
