About the Open Mic:
- Everyone is welcome! Audience and performers of all levels: beginner to professional: all are warmly received and encouraged.
- Finger picking nylon string styles (leave the Les Paul at home). Soloists and ensembles of any combination.
- 10 minutes maximum per performer, coordinated by a different guest host each month.
- Tropical juice and coffee provided by the SBGS. Fruit, cake and cookies are welcome: please bring enough to display and share.

Andrea Gonzales Caballero is a spectacular Spanish guitarist who is now living in New York. She began playing the guitar when she was 7 years old. She gave her first concert at age 8. She has since played in many festivals and performed in many countries. Her 1st prize awards in competitions include the XII Alhambra International Competition in 2016 in Spain, the 40th International Fernando Sor Competition in Italy, the International Guitar Prize in Germany, and the Tarrega Competition to name just a few. Andrea will present a masterclass on Sunday.
Duo Melis is made up of Greek guitarist Alexis Muzurakis and Spanish guitarist Susana Prieto. They made their debut in 1999 at the International Guitar Festival of Volos, Greece. They have won numerous awards both individually and together. In 1999, they won first prize at the International Guitar Duo Competition in Germany. The following year they won the Guitar Duo Competition in France. Since 2006, Alexis and Susana have taught at the Conservatoire National de Strasbourg in France. They will present a masterclass on Sunday.
On Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020 we will present the 2018 Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) winner from Paris, Raphaël Feuillâtre. This concert will be at the Foothill Presbyterian Church in San Jose. In 2017 Raphaël won 1st prize in the International Guitar Jose Tomas Competition in Spain. For the past 16 years we have been presenting the winners of the GFA competition. The GFA is one of the most prestigious competitions in the world. These young players are always amazing. He will present a masterclass on Sunday.
French guitarist Judicaël Perroy is now a professor of guitar at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He is a past winner of the Guitar Foundation of America as well as other international competitions. We open this concert with a ten minute Prelude performance by an area student guitarist.
On Saturday, May 23, 2020 Belgian guitarist Jerome Mouffe will present a concert at the Trianon Theatre in San Jose. All of our concerts expect the GFA concert will be at the Trianon. We presented Jerome in 2008 and his concert was brilliant. In 2013, Jerome joined the faculty at the New England Conservatory of Boston. He will present a Masterclass on Sunday.
