Guitar Story, Trianon Theatre

We regularly present programs free to the public at libraries and other community venues. These are often lecture - demonstrations, providing an opportunity to casually meet concert artists, learn about their musical interests, and hear them perform.

Schools

The majority of our educational outreach is "up close and personal", taking artists to classrooms where students are able to ask questions. This is a different experience than being a member of a large audience: it's much more casual and informative.

The artist performs, discusses and demonstrates different guitar playing techniques. Our artistic director always accompanies the artist, acting as moderator: interviewing the artist and encouraging the students to ask questions.

Each season, we provide over 20 presentations to guitar and music classses, elementary classrooms, and at school assemblies of 200 or more students

Hospitals

We bring music to convalescent facilities and hospitals, such as the VA Palo Alto Hospital. This outreach is particularly gratifying and appreciated.

Deep Outreach

With grant support from the Farrington Historical Foundation, the South Bay Guitar Society has been able to offer alternate site classical guitar concerts for shut-ins. We call the program Deep Outreach. These are not student practice or rehearsal, but real concerts featuring world class professional musicians. They are the same concert for which fans purchase tickets and attend in our downtown concert hall. Past Deep Outreach offerings include:
