Due to last minute visa issues, Zoran Dukic will not be able to perform at the SBGS concert on Saturday.

As part of our commitment to our loyal audience, we have made arrangements for Cuban guitar master Rene Izquierdo, a phenomenal guitarist in his own right, to be the artist for this concert.

You can sample his artistry at:

South Bay Guitar Society sincerely apologies for this change and we will offer a full refund to ticket holders who choose not to attend Rene’s performance.

Cuban guitarist Rene Izquierdo graduated from the Amadeo Roldan Conservatory and Superior Institute of Art in Havana, where he studied with renowned guitarist Jesus Ortega. After his arrival in the United States, he graduated from Yale University School of Music, where he studied with Benjamin Verdery and obtained a Master of Music and an Artist Diploma degree in 2001 and was awarded the Eliot Fisk Prize to an outstanding guitarist. He has studied with Leo Brouwer, David Russell, Pepe Romero, Angel Romero, Carlos Barbosa-Lima, David Starobin, Eduardo Fernandez, and Jorge Morel.

Izquierdo has been awarded several competition prizes and has appeared as a guest soloist and in chamber music concerts throughout the United States, Canada, Cuba, Spain, France and Italy. He has shared the stage with many prestigious guitarists including Eliot Fisk, Jorge Morel and Benjamin Verdery.

“His natural and instinctive interpretations are second to none: his virtuoso technique allows him absolute command of the instrument giving him the independence of subtle phrasing, dazzling speed, beautiful tonal control… everything.” Classical Guitar Magazine, May, 2010.
