DIRECTIONS: Ariel Theatrical
The South Bay Guitar Society, furthering its mission to support local music education, is pleased to present guitarist Julio Reyes in this special concert to benefit Pajaro Middle School in Watsonville, Calif.
Proceeds from this performance will assist Pajaro Middle School's music department replace equipment damaged in the devastating floods of March 10, 2023, in the Pajaro Valley.
Pajaro Middle School is one of six middle schools in the Pajaro Valley Unified School District. The school's guitar program is also the 2023 recipient of SBGS's Gardin Memorial Scholarship honoring the memory of longtime SBGS friend and supporter Tom Gardin.
Tickets: $10.00 general admission; $5.00 for Pajaro Valley Unified students with student ID
About the artist:
Guitarist and teacher Julio Reyes has performed widely in South America, Cuba, and the U.S., including at Carnegie Hall as winner of the 2022 Progressive Musicians Competition. He has given lectures on the music and life of Augustín Barrios at many universities, conservatories and guitar societies and is currently writing a book on teaching music to young beginners in the age of instant gratification. Reyes has conducted both professional orchestras and student groups around the world. His formal guitar training includes study under his father Carlos F. Reyes and at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Reyes holds a bachelor's degree in music and religious studies from Holy Names University.
