About the host

Guitarist and teacher Julio Reyes has performed widely in South America, Cuba, and the U.S., including at Carnegie Hall as winner of the 2022 Progressive Musicians Competition. He has given lectures on the music and life of Augustín Barrios at many universities, conservatories and guitar societies and is currently writing a book on teaching music to young beginners in the age of instant gratification. Reyes has conducted both professional orchestras and student groups around the world. His formal guitar training includes study under his father Carlos F. Reyes and at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Reyes holds a Bachelor's degree in music and religious studies from Holy Names University.

Setup recommendation for performers:

An external microphone such as a Zoom USB digital microphone is recommended for good sound quality. For example, the Zoom H1n works very well. If you don’t have one, the microphone in your computer or mobile device will be adequate.

We recommend that you install the latest version of Zoom. Go to the Zoom/Check for Updates menu item and run the update, or go to Download Zoom Update.

Finally, we recommend that you turn on Original Sound while you are performing and turn if off when not performing.
