14-year-old guitarist Ashwin Krishna from Los Altos, California appeared May 6 on From the Top, one of the most popular classical music programs on the radio, broadcast on over 200 stations nationwide with a weekly audience of more than 700,000, hosted by acclaimed pianist Christopher O’Riley. This special episode was taped before a live audience at Carnegie Hall March 27 and marks the one-year anniversary of the Carnegie Hall Royal Conservatory Achievement Program.
Ashwin attends Egan Junior High Schooland studies with Scott Cmiel at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. For the past two years, Ashwin has won second place in the Guitar Foundation of America’s Junior Division Competition. He has also won top prizes from the Pacific Musical Society and the Menuhin-Dowling Competition. Aside from guitar, Ashwin enjoys scouting, track, and soccer.
